Learn what Vish Dosh is, how it forms, its effects on life and relationships, and effective remedies through Vedic astrology with Astrochitra.

- Vish Yog/Dosh is formed when the Moon (Chandra) and Saturn (Shani) are conjunct in any house of the horoscope.
- It may also form when Saturn is placed in Rohini or Shravana Nakshatra.
- Moon in Pushya or Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatra is also considered a formation of Vish Yog.
- Vish Yog can occur during the Mahadasha of the Moon with Saturn's Antardasha, or vice versa.
- These planetary combinations are traditionally considered inauspicious in Vedic astrology.
Introduction
A horoscope that shows the Moon (Chandra) in conjunction with Saturn (Shani) in any house then it is called as Vish Yog/Dosha. Again, when Shani comes in Rohini and Shavana nakshatra, it creates Vish Yog, or when the Moon comes in Pushya and Uttara Bhadrapada nakshatra, it creates this inauspicious Yog. Apart from this, whenever the Maha Dasha of the Moon and the Antardasha of Shani come together or vice versa, this period is also called as Vish Yog.
How is Vish Yoga Formed in a Horoscope?
A combined placement of different planets in a house creates a Yog/Dosha. Similarly, Vish Yog is created/formed because of the following placements of the Moon and Saturn:
- Moon and Saturn are placed together in any house of a birth chart.
- Saturn and Moon are in mutual aspect (Saturn's 7th aspect, Sadhesati, on Moon). Saturn's 3rd and 10th aspects create a milder form of Vish Yog.
- When the Moon and Saturn exchange houses (called as Parivartana Yoga).
- Some experts believe that people born with peak Sadesati in their birth chart will also suffer from Vish Yog.
The Positive Side of Vish Yoga
Though Vish Yoga brings a lot of challenges to the life of a person, it also works for the other side of the spectrum. For people who are living a simple life and dedicated to spiritual upliftment, the same dreaded Vish Yog turns out to be the best yog in their birth chart. It helps them to detach from materialistic life, gives power to develop a meditative mind and inclination to serve all other living beings. Vish Yog does not form any obstacles for such people as well as gives a hint that the person would be quite happy with his/her limited needs. As per available astrological data, many legends and saints are said to have had Vish Yog in their charts. Swami Vivekananda and Rishi Aurobindo are two extraordinary human beings and saints believed to have had Vish Yog in their birth charts.
Negative Effects of Vish Yog
Astrologically, the characteristics of the Moon and Saturn are considered to be like milk and poison. It means that when two diverse-natured planets come together, they may create problems/difficulties. The severe effects of Vish Yog are when Shani-Chandra associate together in the 4th, 8th, and 12th houses of a birth chart. Some of the negative effects are mentioned below:

- On education, career, and profession: Vish yog can cause fluctuations of the mind, and the person demotivates himself or herself from higher studies, which leads to failure in exams. Regular and recurring psychological problems & loss of confidence, obstacles in promotion, unhealthy relations with co-workers, and low self-esteem are effects of vish yog, which can lead to failure in career and profession.
- On marriage and love life: During the period of vish yog, a couple might start fighting unnecessarily. It affects love affairs, relationships with children and loved ones.
- On mother's health: This yog can adversely affect the health of the native's mother. A person might feel unprotected, lack of support from family and may face tension and problems between the native and mother.
- Vish Yog in 7th house: This yoga is also known as Punarphoo Dosha and creates a critical condition for marriage and partnership. It creates misunderstanding and disharmony between couples that escalate and end with divorce.
- Vish Yog in 8th house: Astrologically, this place is known as the house of death. Saturn-Moon Vish Yog affects a person with continuous health issues, accidents, and unknown diseases. These critical conditions can make the life of a person frustrating and depressing, and the end result is like death or similar conditions.
